The crown is tall and slants towards the front. The short brim is uprturned at the sides. A beautiful yellow grosgrain band sits around the crown. At the front center there is a magnificent feather creation consisting of circles from where brown and yellow tall feathers emerge. This is a one-of-a-kind creation from the fashionable forties! An elastic band is attached to the inside to help keep the hat in place. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. Size label: 7 1/8 - Printed on the inside headband...DOBBS...plus illegible writing.
