Black - Rigidized Metals Samples - Colors and Highlights。Elegant and dazzling, this is a large black velvet hat from the fashionable 1950s. The conical hat is made of a stiff material completely covered in velvet. There is a cap on the underside of the brim to hold the hat in place. What a fashion statement! Throughout the 1950s, ladies wore hats daily as a part of their attire as was a pair of gloves. The millinery industry of the era set about creating variety and extravagance. Hats were now touted as the essential accessory to complete the ensemble. Alternatively, ‘pancake’ or ‘cart wheel’ hats sat flat atop the head reviving turn of the century styles. There is no label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. This hat is in wonderful vintage condition and has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years.
